Don Rosa kertoo taustoja lopettamisestaan

Netissä on jo tovin kiertänyt Don Rosan kirjoittama teksti, joka piti julkaista Don Rosan koottujen ohessa. Disney ei kuitenkaan aikeesta pitänyt (luettuasi tekstin voit ymmärtää syyn tälle), joten tästä päätettiin luopua. Avoimessa kirjeessä Rosa kertoo hieman taustoja siitä, miksi päätti lopetaa työskentelyn Disneylle. Kirjeen voit kokonaisuudessaan lukea täältä (toistaiseksi teksti on vain englanniksi, mutta ilmeisesti sitä ollaan kääntämässä myös suomeksi)! Alla katkelma kirjeestä:

[...]all the European fans assumed that I was a millionaire. They assumed that when I sat at a book store signing the 30 Euro books the store was selling, I was getting a 5 Euro cut on each sale! Whoa! I had never minded not getting wealthy off this job I loved. But it became really annoying when I discovered that everyone assumed I was getting huge royalties. They could never imagine that such a system exists in this day and age (or that an author/artist would be so stupid as to participate in it). I started feeling like a world-class chump.

 Ja eipä ole Rosalla mennyt hyvin viime aikoinakaan. Silmäongelmista kärsivä ankkamestari joutui nimittäin jälleen uuteen silmäleikkaukseen. Alla oleva teksti on poimittu Don Rosan  Facebok- sivulta:

all of Don's plans for the next seven to eight weeks need to CANCELLED. Totally out of the blue, almost exactly five years after the previous one, Don had yet ANOTHER retina detachment in the same eye and needed emergency surgery today. Everything's under control now, and he doesn't need to lie flat face down 24/7 like last time since only the upper part of the retina is affected but he's got a gas bubble in his eye to press the loosened retina back to where it belongs, and that will prevent him from ANY air travel for the next weeks!

Toivottavasti kaikki kääntyy vielä parhain päin!
